Founded in 2024 by Lorenzo Gatto, the Karavan Ensemble views music as a journey, where rhythm carries the narrative and sound becomes a meeting place — as evidenced by their debut album Open Road.
In Stavelot, the ensemble presents the Bach meets East project for the first time in Belgium, alongside violinist Ambi Subramaniam and percussionist Simon Leleux. This encounter gives rise to a lively dialogue between two musical worlds.
At the heart of the programme is a reinterpretation of Bach’s Second Partita for solo violin. The famous Chaconne becomes an open space, where the composition flows naturally into improvisation. The lines evolve, the rhythms breathe differently, and new colours emerge — until the result is music that is both unexpected and familiar.
