We are delighted to welcome Victor Somma (transverse flutes (piccolo, soprano, alto, bass, contrabass), compositions) for everyone’s musical enjoyment!
‘Minimal Dreams’ is a collection of compositions for soprano, alto, bass and contrabass flutes, accompanied and performed using a loop station, inviting listeners to immerse themselves in the mysterious world of the subconscious. Inspired by Afro-Amerindian traditions, which regard the flute as an instrument free from any technical constraints, the project links these rich ancestral textures with those of modern flutes, connecting past and present. Layers of sound overlap and intertwine, creating a soundscape that is both a product of mental composition and of organic, spontaneous creation.
Conceived in a very specific context — whilst working with young people with autism and teenagers in a psychiatric institution — flutist Victor Somma’s project explores sonic textures and ideas through a unique musical language, a true bridge of connection and expression. In this interactive world shared by the musician and the audience, the music of ‘Minimal Dreams’ transcends conventions, evoking dreamlike images and deep emotions, as if emerging directly from a dream…
