Simone van der Giessen (NL)

Born in Amsterdam, Simone van der Giessen moved to the UK in 2002 to study violin with Jan Repko at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). It was in Manchester, as a founding member of the Navarra String Quartet, that chamber music became the focus of her musical life. In 2004 she began studying viola with Predrag Katanic and after graduating in June 2006 with honors, she won the RNCM Cecil Aronowitz Viola Prize and performed William Walton's viola concerto with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra. She is now a member of the Elias Quartet.
