The young violist Muriel Razavi was born in 1992 and first became a junior student at the University of Music Karlsruhe in 2010, before moving to the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, where she continued her studies with Professor Nils Mönkemeyer. She also receives a scholarship from the International Music Academy in the Principality of Liechtenstein, and participates in the intensive music weeks on offer there. Muriel Razavi has already taken part in several national and international competitions. In 2010 she won the 1st prize at the national German “Jugend musiziert” young musicians’ competition, in 2012 she qualified for the “International Youth Competition in Memory of E. A. Mravinsky” in St. Petersburg and in 2013 and 2015 she successfully participated in the “Wettbewerb des Deutschen Musikinstrumentenfonds” competition. The young musician has already been awarded numerous scholarships and been lent instruments accordingly, for example from the “Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben”, the “Festival Akademie des Heidelberger Frühlings”, the “Hans-Rudolf-Stiftung München”, the “Oscar and Vera Ritter-Stiftung Hamburg” and the International Summer Academy for Young Artists Marktoberdorf. In 2010 she received the junior prize from the European Cultural Foundation. Muriel Razavi is a very active chamber musician and performs frequently. She has appeared in concert with the violinist Tobias Feldmann and with Tabea Zimmermann among others. Since February 2015 she has been a permanent member of Daniel Barenboim’s West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.
