Born in Prague in 1960, Michal Kanka completed all his studies there under the tutelage of eminent teachers. He then perfected his skills in Los Angeles with André Navarra, Maurice Gendron and Paul Tortelier. From 1980 onwards, he brilliantly won numerous prizes and was invited by major international orchestras. He has been a member of the famous Pražák Quartet and the Beethoven String Trio since 1986, with whom he has recorded and performed extensively throughout the world. Today he teaches in his home town and is on the artistic board of the renowned Prague Spring Festival.
