Cellist Lukáš Pospíšil is a graduate of the Prague Conservatory (Prof. Viktor Moučka) and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (Prof. Miloš Sádlo). In 1991-92 he studied at the Hochschule für Music und darstellende Kunst in Vienna with Prof. Angelica May. During his studies he attended many Masterclasses (with Erkki Rautio, Heinrich Schiff and Martin Hornstein among others) and competitions. In 1983 he was awarded 3rd prize in the Beethoven’s Hradec Competition, and in 1988 he won the Janáček Competition in Brno.
Lukáš Pospíšil is a frequent participant in Chamber Ensembles as well. In 2014 he became a member of the Zeiher Quartett and cooperates regularily with Jakub Fišer, the first violin of the Benewitz Quartet and with pianist and conductor Marek Šedivý.
