Born in Charleroi in 1955, Luc Dewez studied cello and conducting at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels before going on to perfect his skills at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel (where he later taught) and at the Hochschule in Detmold with André Navarra. He has been solo cellist with renowned Belgian and foreign ensembles and taught for 35 years at the Royal Conservatory of Mons. As a member of the Grumiaux Trio and the Brussels String Quartet, he has performed with them throughout the world. He has conducted the Grumiaux Foundation Orchestra since its inception.
