In 2001 violinist Stéphanie de Failly founded the Clematis ensemble, whose aim is to work on the little-known repertoire of the 17th century. It tackles the vast Italian repertoire as well as German and French works, with a particular interest in the forgotten pages of Dutch composers. The ensemble is a variable-geometry ensemble, with musicians chosen according to their different musical projects. In addition to concerts in many countries, Clematis has an extensive discography with Ricercar. Clematis is co-directed by Stéphanie de Failly and Brice Sailly.
