Arne-Christian Pelz, 1st Principal Cellist of the Deutsche Oper Berlin since 2016, grew up in Rostock/Germany before studying in Houston/Texas, Berlin and Leipzig. At the age of 25, Arne-Christian got appointed as principal Cellist of the Hamburg Symphony under the baton of Sir Jeffrey Tate. His innate curiosity for different styles of musical formats and chamber music led to various collaborations including choreographers, electronic musicians and video artists. Since 2019 he has been teaching a seminar at the HfM Hanns Eisler Berlin.
He plays on a modern instrument by Alexandre Breton.
